Kraken has launched trading in more than 7,000 U.S.-listed stocks for eligible customers across the European Economic Area, extending its traditional equities business beyond the United States.

The August 18 rollout puts conventional U.S. equities alongside crypto and tokenized xStocks within Kraken’s platform. Eligible stock trades are commission-free, although spreads, foreign exchange costs and other fees may still apply.

EEA Customers Gain Access to More Than 7,000 U.S. Equities

Stock trading is available through Kraken Pro on desktop and mobile and through the main Kraken app. Eligible customers must complete the required onboarding steps before the regulated investment products are activated.

Kraken had already rolled out the service in Germany, the Netherlands, and France shortly before the broader launch, according to a company spokesperson. The August 18 expansion makes the offering available across supported EEA markets.

Kraken plans to expand its combined equities offering into additional markets in the coming months.

CySEC-Regulated Entity Provides Stock Trading Under MiFID II

The equities service is provided by Payward Europe Digital Solutions (CY) Limited, Kraken’s Cyprus-based investment firm. The company is authorized and regulated by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission under license number 342/17.

That regulatory structure differs from Kraken’s core EEA crypto services, which operate through entities holding MiCA and electronic-money authorizations in Ireland. Kraken does not charge commissions on eligible stock trades, but transactions are not necessarily cost-free. Spreads and foreign exchange costs may still apply.

7,000+ U.S. Stocks Now Trade Alongside 700+ xStocks

The launch allows eligible EEA customers to access more than 7,000 traditional U.S. equities alongside more than 700 xStocks. Kraken says xStocks have generated more than $38 billion in total transaction volume since their June 2025 launch.

The products remain legally different. xStocks are tokenized representations of equities backed 1:1 by underlying securities and do not confer the same shareholder rights as conventional shares. They can also be withdrawn to supported self-custody wallets.

The August 18 rollout gives eligible EEA customers access to both conventional U.S. equities and tokenized versions through Kraken without moving funds to a separate platform.
