Elon Musk’s X Adds Bitcoin Trading Links for US Users
- Elon Musk’s X has added trading links to Bitcoin and other crypto Cashtags for US users, connecting platform discussions with external exchanges.
- The five launch partners include crypto platforms Coinbase, Kraken, and Gemini, alongside stock brokerages Interactive Brokers and Moomoo.
- X acts solely as a referral layer because it does not execute transactions or handle asset custody itself.
Elon Musk’s X has added trading links to Bitcoin and other crypto Cashtags for US users, connecting market discussions on the social platform with Coinbase, Kraken, and Gemini.
The US Cashtag Partner Program also includes Interactive Brokers and Moomoo for stocks and ETFs. X does not execute the transactions itself. Users are redirected to a participating exchange or brokerage to complete a trade.
Bitcoin Cashtags Now Include a Trade Button
Users who tap a supported Cashtag such as $BTC can open an asset page containing a price chart and related posts.
A new Trade option then displays participating providers. Selecting Coinbase, Kraken, Gemini or another supported partner opens that company’s app or website, where users sign in or create an account before completing the transaction.
Trading availability remains subject to each provider’s account requirements, geographic restrictions and supported products.
The setup keeps execution and customer onboarding outside X. Partner exchanges and brokerages continue handling account verification, orders, and asset custody through their own infrastructure.
Coinbase, Kraken and Gemini Connect Crypto Trading to X
The five launch partners span both crypto and traditional brokerage services. Coinbase, Kraken and Gemini provide routes to digital assets, while Interactive Brokers and Moomoo extend the Cashtag model to stocks and ETFs.
X has not published a single universal list of assets supported across every partner, so availability can vary by provider. Kraken says its Cashtag integration can connect users to nearly 2,500 assets across its centralized and decentralized trading offerings, subject to normal eligibility restrictions.
The brokerage links build on Smart Cashtags, which X began expanding earlier in 2026 to connect ticker symbols and crypto assets with dedicated price and discussion pages.
X Remains a Referral Layer Rather Than a Crypto Exchange
The program gives X a direct link between financial discussion and outside trading platforms without making the social network itself an exchange or brokerage.
Pressing Trade does not place an order on X or move Bitcoin into an X-controlled wallet. The transaction is completed through the selected financial provider.
The five-partner program is currently available to US users. X has not announced a timetable for expanding it to additional countries.
