MoneyGram Ramps Brings Cash Access to Solana
MoneyGram Ramps is now live on Solana, giving wallets, exchanges, and developers access to the payments company’s cash-to-crypto and crypto-to-cash infrastructure through a single API.
Solana Foundation announced the integration on August 1. It supports cash deposits in more than 25 countries and withdrawals across more than 170 countries and territories.
Solana Apps Gain Access to MoneyGram’s Cash Network
MoneyGram Ramps connects digital applications with MoneyGram’s physical payment network without requiring developers to build separate banking integrations.
The Solana integration includes API credentials, sandbox access, documentation, and software development kits. Ramps is also embedded in the payments module of the Solana Developer Platform.
MoneyGram’s current Ramps service allows users to load supported wallets with USDC using cash at selected locations and convert USDC back into local currency at participating MoneyGram locations. MoneyGram handles compliance, identity checks and stablecoin settlement behind the service.
Rift Becomes First Solana Wallet to Integrate MoneyGram Ramps
Rift is the first wallet on Solana to integrate MoneyGram Ramps, giving its users access to the company’s infrastructure for moving between crypto and local currency.
Solana said the integration can support remittances and cross-border payouts by allowing funds sent on-chain to be withdrawn in local currency at participating MoneyGram locations. The model can give recipients a cash-out route without requiring a bank account.
Availability varies by country and participating location. The more than 170-country figure applies to withdrawals, while Solana says cash deposits are supported in more than 25 countries and territories.
MoneyGram Adds Ramps After June Solana Validator Launch
The Ramps integration follows MoneyGram’s June 22 entry into the Solana ecosystem as an active validator and participant in the Solana Developer Platform.
MoneyGram has previously built stablecoin cash-conversion infrastructure around Stellar. In June, it also launched MGUSD, a dollar-backed stablecoin issued by Stripe-owned Bridge and initially deployed on Stellar.
Developers can now begin integrating MoneyGram Ramps through the Solana Developer Platform, while Rift provides the first announced Solana wallet implementation.
