Circle Expands CCTP to EURC and cirBTC On Arc

Circle has expanded its Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol on Arc beyond USDC, adding native cross-chain transfers for euro stablecoin EURC and Bitcoin-backed cirBTC.

The rollout makes USDC, EURC and cirBTC available through CCTP on Circle’s Layer 1 network, although supported routes differ by asset. The broader Interop on Arc stack went live Sept. 23, one week after Arc’s Sept. 16 mainnet launch.

EURC Now Connects Arc With Four Other Networks

EURC can move through CCTP between Arc, Avalanche, Base, Ethereum and World Chain. Circle first expanded CCTP beyond USDC on Sept. 2, initially enabling native EURC transfers between Ethereum and Base.

CCTP uses a burn-and-mint model for supported Circle-issued assets. Tokens are burned on the source network and an equivalent native amount is minted on the destination, avoiding separate wrapped versions of the asset.

Existing CCTP integrations can add support for additional Circle-issued assets without adopting a separate bridge protocol for each one.

cirBTC Gains CCTP Route Between Arc and Ethereum 

Circle Wrapped Bitcoin, or cirBTC, now supports CCTP transfers between Arc and Ethereum. Circle says each cirBTC is backed 1:1 by native BTC.

Circle launched cirBTC on Arc on Sept. 21 after previously introducing the asset on Ethereum. Eligible Circle Mint customers can also deposit BTC, mint cirBTC and use it as collateral in supported third-party lending markets to borrow USDC.

The CCTP route gives cirBTC a native cross-chain path between Ethereum and Arc rather than requiring a separate wrapped representation for each transfer.

Gateway Remains USDC-Only as Multi-Asset Support Develops

The CCTP expansion does not mean every part of Circle’s interoperability stack already supports all three assets. Gateway currently provides unified USDC balances across Arc and Ethereum. EURC and cirBTC support remains listed as coming soon, with no launch date announced.

Circle’s Forwarding Service can separately relay destination-chain transactions, so users do not need to hold gas on the receiving network. CCTP Fast Transfer offers sub-10-second transfers on supported Arc routes, although actual times and fees vary by route and network conditions.

For Arc, the immediate change is broader native asset connectivity: USDC, EURC and cirBTC can now use CCTP across their supported routes, while Gateway’s multi-asset expansion remains unfinished.
