MOEX to Launch Five Crypto Perpetual Futures On September 22

Moscow Exchange will launch perpetual futures tied to Bitcoin, Ether, Solana, XRP and Tron indexes on Sept. 22, expanding its crypto derivatives offering for qualified investors in Russia.

The five contracts will be cash-settled and will not deliver cryptocurrency to traders. They will be quoted in US dollars and settled in Russian rubles.

Perpetual Futures Will Roll Daily and Settle in Russian Rubles

The new contracts are BTCUSDF, ETHUSDF, SOLUSDF, XRPUSDF and TRXUSDF. Each will track the corresponding Moscow Exchange index for Bitcoin, Ether, Solana, XRP or Tron.

Unlike conventional monthly futures, the instruments will operate as one-day contracts with automatic rollover, allowing traders to maintain exposure without manually moving positions into a new monthly expiry.

MOEX calculates its foreign cryptocurrency indexes using prices from Binance, Bybit, OKX and Bitget. The exchange moved the indexes to 15-second calculations based on crypto-exchange prices in May as it expanded beyond Bitcoin and Ether.

Funding will be calculated under MOEX’s perpetual futures specification, with K1 and K2 parameters set at 0% and 0.35%, respectively.

Access Remains Limited to Qualified Investors

The contracts will only be available to qualified investors. The restriction follows Bank of Russia rules introduced in May 2025 allowing financial institutions to offer qualified investors derivatives, securities, and digital financial assets linked to cryptocurrency prices as long as the instruments do not deliver cryptocurrency.

MOEX first launched crypto-linked futures tied to BlackRock’s IBIT Bitcoin ETF in June 2025, followed by ETHA-linked Ether futures in August. Futures on MOEX’s own Bitcoin and Ether indexes followed in November, with monthly Solana, XRP and Tron index contracts added in May 2026.

Crypto Futures Turnover Exceeds 600B Rubles Since 2025 Launch

More than 72,000 qualified investors have traded MOEX crypto-linked futures since the first contracts launched in 2025, according to the exchange. Cumulative trading volume has exceeded 600 billion rubles.

The Sept. 22 launch expands the duration of exposure available on the five crypto indexes rather than opening direct cryptocurrency trading on Moscow Exchange.

Investors will gain continuous futures exposure through automatic daily rollover, but the contracts will not deliver BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP or TRX to external wallets.
