Pi Network is targeting September 15 for its Protocol 27 Mainnet upgrade after moving the new protocol onto Testnet.
The date is a target rather than confirmation that every related product will launch that day. Protocol 27 focuses on expanded smart contract authentication, while Pi’s DEX, AMM and other programmable features remain on separate testing and deployment tracks.
Protocol 27 Expands Smart Contract Authentication
Pi Network said Protocol 27 introduces additional ways for accounts and applications to authorize transactions.
The upgrade follows Protocol 26, which has already been activated on Mainnet. Pi began moving Testnet to Protocol 27 in August so the new rules could be tested before the planned September deployment.
Protocol 25 previously introduced BN254 cryptography and Poseidon hashing, adding technical building blocks for privacy-preserving applications and zero-knowledge proofs.
DEX and AMM Remain Separate From September Upgrade
Pi has already deployed decentralized exchange, automated market maker and token creation functionality on Testnet.
Developers and users can test swaps, liquidity pools and token issuance using Test-Pi before those functions become available with real assets on Mainnet.
The project has said those features are intended for Mainnet, but it has not confirmed that Protocol 27 activation on September 15 will automatically open DEX or AMM functionality to production users.
September 15 Remains Target for Protocol 27 Mainnet Activation
Pi opened external Mainnet connectivity through Open Network in February 2025 and has continued rolling out protocol upgrades since then. Protocol 27 is now being tested ahead of its planned September 15 Mainnet deployment.
Pi has not announced that its DEX, AMM or other Testnet applications will launch alongside the protocol upgrade, leaving those products on separate deployment schedules.
