Anthropic reportedly told prospective investors that third-quarter revenue reached $16.8 billion as it prepares for an initial public offering (IPO). Revenue continued to rise sharply, although growth slowed from the previous quarter as bankers reportedly considered a valuation near $2 trillion.
Anthropic’s Reported Quarterly Growth Slows to 45%
Business Insider reported that Anthropic shared the figures at an Oct. 14 investor meeting in San Francisco. Reported revenue rose from $11.6 billion in the second quarter to $16.8 billion in the third.
Those figures imply growth of approximately 45%, compared with more than 100% between the first and second quarters. Revenue increased by approximately $5.2 billion over the latest quarter, despite the slower percentage growth.
Business Insider also reported that Anthropic achieved third-quarter profitability on an adjusted basis. That measure should not be read as a statement of conventional net profit.
Anthropic’s IPO Ambition Exceeds Its Private Valuation
Anthropic disclosed a $965 billion post-money valuation when it announced a $65 billion funding round on May 28. The company said its annualized revenue run rate had crossed $47 billion earlier that month.
A $2 trillion listing valuation would be more than twice that private-market benchmark. However, the reported figure represents an ambition for the offering, rather than an established public-market valuation or final offer price.
The listing could take place as soon as November, according to people familiar with the preparations. The timing and valuation remain subject to change.
Anthropic Expands Computing Capacity
Anthropic’s growth plans include substantial infrastructure expansion. In April, it announced an agreement with Google and Broadcom for several gigawatts of additional computing capacity expected to begin coming online in 2027.
The company said the expansion would support Claude development and customer demand. That announcement did not disclose the agreement’s financial terms or establish how the additional capacity would affect future profitability.
