Standard Chartered plans to offer digital asset custody in Singapore for institutional clients and corporate customers that qualify as accredited investors.

The planned service will cover selected cryptocurrencies, stablecoins and tokenized real-world assets, subject to regulatory requirements. The bank has not named the supported assets or given a launch date.

Crypto Custody Will Sit Alongside Securities Services

Standard Chartered Bank Singapore plans to integrate the custody service with its Financing and Securities Services business. The setup will place traditional asset servicing, tokenization and digital asset safekeeping within the same institutional offering.

The service will target financial institutions and eligible corporate clients rather than retail customers. Standard Chartered said the model is intended to support clients across the asset lifecycle, from conventional securities to tokenized assets and cryptocurrencies. The bank has not disclosed which custody technology will support the Singapore service.

Standard Chartered Plans to Bring Zodia Custody Business in-House

Standard Chartered agreed in May to acquire Zodia Custody’s regulated custody business after shareholders and noteholders accepted its non-binding offer. The transaction remains subject to regulatory approvals and other closing conditions.

If completed, Zodia’s regulated custody activities will be integrated into Standard Chartered’s Financing and Securities Services operation. Zodia’s separate institutional infrastructure technology business is expected to move into an independent entity called Zodia Solutions.

Singapore Joins UAE, Luxembourg, and Hong Kong Custody Expansion

Standard Chartered already provides institutional digital asset custody in other regulated markets, including the UAE, Luxembourg, and Hong Kong. In Luxembourg, LMAX Group became the first client on the bank’s custody platform in September after Standard Chartered received MiCA authorization earlier in the year.

The bank has also identified Singapore as one of the markets targeted for digital asset custody expansion in 2026.

The Singapore service remains at the planning stage. Launch timing, supported assets and client onboarding requirements have not yet been announced and will depend on Standard Chartered meeting applicable regulatory requirements.
