Kinetics Values 1,875 Ripple Shares at $246K in SEC Filing
Kinetics Internet Portfolio reported holding 1,875 shares of privately held Ripple Labs valued at about $246,319 at June 30, according to a portfolio filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
The position represented roughly 0.1% of the fund’s $248.3 million in net assets. The disclosure provides a public view of direct fund ownership in Ripple rather than exposure through XRP.
1,875 Ripple Shares Valued at About $131 Each
The June filing identifies the holding as 1,875 Class A common shares of Ripple Labs with a reported fair value of $246,318.75, equivalent to about $131.37 per share.
Ripple remains privately held, so its equity does not have a continuously quoted public exchange price. Investment funds holding the shares must instead determine fair value under their valuation procedures.
Kinetics reports a $300,000 cost basis for the position, meaning its June fair value remained about 18% below the amount originally invested.
June Valuation Rises 8% With Share Count Unchanged
Kinetics reported the same 1,875-share Ripple holding at March 31, when the position was valued at $228,281. The June mark is about 8% higher. The March SEC schedule also reported a $300,000 cost basis.
Because the share count remained unchanged, the filings do not show that Kinetics bought additional Ripple equity during the second quarter.
The reported share class did change. The March filing identified the investment as Ripple Preferred A shares, while the June disclosure lists Class A common stock. The filings do not explain the reason for that change, so it is unclear whether it reflects a conversion, reclassification or different reporting treatment.
Ripple Equity Remains Separate From XRP Exposure
Ripple shares give Kinetics an ownership interest in the privately held company. XRP, by contrast, is the native digital asset of the XRP Ledger and does not represent equity in Ripple Labs.
Private-market indications for Ripple shares can vary by platform, transaction and share class, making the Kinetics figure a fund-specific fair-value estimate rather than a public market price. Nasdaq Private Market published an indicative Ripple price of $99.87 per share on July 29, while also showing different bid, offer, and transaction levels.
Kinetics’ next portfolio disclosure will show whether its 1,875-share position remains unchanged and how the fund marks the private Ripple investment in the next reporting period.
