Chainlink’s LINK Gains as AI Agent Product Draws Attention

Chainlink’s LINK token has extended its weekly gains as attention turns to a beta product designed to help autonomous AI agents operate across blockchain networks. LINK was trading around $9.47 on August 17 and had gained roughly 15% over the previous seven days.

The gain coincides with renewed attention on Chainlink for Agents and new research on LINK from Standard Chartered. The product is already available in beta, while Chainlink’s current product page does not identify a separate launch date.

Chainlink for Agents Connects AI to Onchain Markets

Chainlink for Agents provides autonomous AI software with access to verified pricing data and tools for executing blockchain transactions. The service combines Chainlink Data Streams, its Runtime Environment and Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol, or CCIP.

The beta can support tasks including cross-chain asset transfers, yield optimization and autonomous trading strategies. Chainlink’s documentation says the service currently operates across Base, Ethereum, Polygon and Arbitrum, while agents pay for certain calls using USDC on Base.

The company also warns that the service cannot prevent an AI agent from making incorrect decisions or losing funds. Chainlink describes the product as the verified data, execution, and cross-chain layer for autonomous onchain AI agents.

Standard Chartered Research Adds to LINK Attention

LINK’s recent advance also follows Standard Chartered’s decision to initiate coverage of Chainlink. The bank set a $200 price target for the end of 2030 and a $13 target for the end of 2026, based partly on expected growth in tokenized assets and demand for blockchain infrastructure.

Standard Chartered expects tokenized assets on public blockchains to reach about $4 trillion by the end of 2028. Its forecast assumes Chainlink will benefit from demand for oracle data, cross-chain connectivity and other infrastructure as more financial assets move onchain.

AI Product Remains in Beta

Chainlink for Agents remains an early-stage product rather than a fully mature service. Its documentation says APIs, pricing, and functionality may change, while some of its onchain transaction capabilities are still described as preview features.

The product expands Chainlink’s infrastructure beyond traditional oracle feeds by giving AI agents tools to retrieve verified information and carry out transactions. The AI product and Standard Chartered research are among the recent developments surrounding Chainlink while LINK trades higher on the week.
