Pontoro announced a liquidity-pool pilot with Archax on Stellar on Oct. 28, combining money-market assets and private-fund interests in one investment vehicle. The structure aims to give private-fund investors another potential exit route, subject to available capital and the pool manager’s approval.

Pool Combines Liquid and Private Assets

The Automated Liquidity Pool, or ALP, holds two portfolio components. One contains money-market funds and similar cash-like investments; the other holds interests in private-market funds, such as private credit.

Investors seeking to sell eligible private-fund interests can offer them to the pool. Purchases depend on pricing, capacity and the manager’s decision, rather than an unconditional commitment to buy.

Pontoro’s model adjusts the price of liquidity within manager-set parameters. Required purchase discounts widen as liquid assets decline and narrow as liquidity returns. Selling a private-fund interest to the pool and redeeming an investment in the pool are separate transactions governed by their respective terms.

Pontoro described the project as its first live ALP deployment. The company scheduled its presentation at the Meridian conference in Lisbon on Oct. 28 and 29.

Archax Issues Tokens for Selected Investors

Archax issues interests in the pool as permissioned tokens on Stellar. They can be held in approved, identity-verified wallets, and the fund is offered only to selected investors through its offering memorandum and subscription documents.

The pilot fund, Pontoro Stellar ALP, LP, is managed by Pontoro ALP Management, LLC. The manager controls investment decisions, valuations and liquidity parameters, while Pontoro supplies the technology and operating infrastructure.

The Stellar Development Foundation collaborated on the pilot and disclosed investments in both Pontoro and Archax. That relationship places the foundation among the project’s collaborators and investors in its participating companies.

Redemptions Depend on Available Cash

Redemptions by the pool’s investors draw first on its liquid assets. If those assets are exhausted, requests may be delayed, reduced or suspended under the offering documents.

The fund’s tokens also face significant transfer restrictions and have no secondary market. Securities are offered under registration exemptions, and investors remain exposed to potential losses, including loss of principal.
