Dunamu, Visa Explore Stablecoin Payments and AI Commerce
Dunamu and Visa have partnered to explore stablecoin payments, cross-border remittances and AI-driven commerce using the Upbit operator’s digital asset infrastructure and Visa’s global payments network.
The companies presented their partnership roadmap in San Francisco on August 27. No service or pilot is live, and they have not selected target markets, customers, blockchains or launch dates.
Dunamu, Visa Will Study Stablecoin Payments and Remittances
The partnership will examine how stablecoins and other digital assets could connect with existing payment and settlement infrastructure for consumer payments, international transfers and settlement.
Dunamu brings infrastructure developed through Upbit for crypto trading, custody and transfers, while Visa contributes its global payments and money-movement network.
Development would proceed in stages based on regulatory, technical and commercial requirements in each market. The companies have not identified a custody model or financial institutions that would participate in an initial service.
OUSD is One Stablecoin Model Under Consideration
Dunamu and Visa will also examine business models involving Open USD, or OUSD, under the Open Standard initiative.
The agreement does not establish OUSD as the stablecoin for the partnership, and Dunamu has not committed to issuing it.
Visa already supports stablecoin settlement across nine blockchains and said in April that its pilot activity had reached a $7 billion annualized settlement run rate.
Partnership Also Covers AI-Driven Payment Transactions
The companies will study agentic commerce, where AI software can search for products or services and complete purchases on a user’s behalf.
Their work will focus on payment, authorization, and settlement infrastructure for those transactions. Visa has separately been developing systems for identifying AI agents and controlling automated payments.
Dunamu and Visa have not announced a commercial rollout, pilot, launch timetable or the networks and financial partners that would support an initial service.
