Blur Plans Website Closure After Blast Announces Wind-Down
- Blur announced it will close its trading website and stop matching new loans through Blend on November 12, 2026.
- The underlying NFT marketplace protocol will remain operational on-chain while BLUR token holders retain governance control over trading fees.
- Blast previously set an October 26, 2026, withdrawal deadline for its network wind-down because maintenance costs exceeded revenue.
Blur announced plans to close its trading website and stop matching new loans through Blend, 10 days after Blast disclosed its network wind-down. Both projects were founded by Tieshun Roquerre, known as “Pacman,” but Blur’s on-chain marketplace will remain operational.
Blur Will Retire Its Website on Nov. 12
Blur announced on Oct. 12 that it would close its trading website on Nov. 12, 2026.
The non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace protocol will continue operating on-chain. BLUR token holders will retain governance control over whether the protocol charges trading fees.
Blur did not explain its decision in the announcement. Its stated plans cover the website and lending service, rather than a shutdown of the underlying marketplace protocol.
Blend Will Stop Matching New Loans
Blur’s NFT lending service, Blend, will stop matching new loans on Nov. 12. Borrowers have until then to repay their loans or allow them to default, the team said.
Blur plans to provide a separate withdrawal interface after that date. The tool will help users retrieve assets from Blend after the main trading website closes.
Blast Sets Oct. 26 Withdrawal Deadline
Blast announced on Oct. 2 that it would wind down its Ethereum layer-2 network. The team said maintenance costs exceeded network revenue, and it saw no credible path to economic sustainability. That explanation concerned Blast, while Blur gave no reason for its changes.
Users have until Oct. 26, 2026, to withdraw assets to Ethereum mainnet through Blast’s normal interface. Afterward, assets will remain withdrawable through direct interaction with bridge contracts on Ethereum. The deadline changes how users retrieve funds rather than ending withdrawals altogether.
