On Oct. 27, Robinhood clarified that third-quarter cryptocurrency revenue fell 55% year over year to $120 million, even as the company’s total revenue reached a record. The results show weaker annual crypto activity alongside growth in other trading businesses.

Crypto Revenue Improves From Previous Quarter

Robinhood’s cryptocurrency transaction-based revenue declined from $268 million in the third quarter of 2025. However, it increased 20% from $100 million in the second quarter of 2026.

The latest figure includes $26 million in net revenue attributable to Robinhood Chain. Excluding that contribution, crypto revenue was $94 million, approximately 6% below the preceding quarter’s total. Robinhood Chain accounted for approximately 22% of reported crypto revenue and drove the overall sequential increase.

Trading Volumes Decline Across App and Bitstamp

Robinhood reported approximately $50 billion in crypto notional trading volume for the quarter ended Sept. 30, down 38% from a year earlier. Notional volume measures the dollar value of transactions rather than the revenue the company earns from them.

Trading volume through the Robinhood app fell 48% year over year to approximately $21 billion. Bitstamp contributed approximately $29 billion, down 28% over the same period, accounting for more than half of the combined crypto trading volume.

Options and Event Contracts Support Overall Growth

Despite the annual crypto decline, Robinhood’s total transaction-based revenue increased 19% to $867 million. Options revenue rose 31% to $399 million, while event-contract revenue increased more than sixfold to $173 million.

Equities revenue also increased, rising 41% to $121 million. Event contracts generated more revenue than cryptocurrencies during the quarter, illustrating the growing contribution of prediction markets to Robinhood’s trading business.

Net interest revenue fell 9% to $415 million, partly reflecting lower securities-lending activity and short-term interest rates. Growth in interest-earning assets partially offset those declines.

Total net revenue increased 12% to approximately $1.42 billion, while net income fell 14% to $476 million. Diluted earnings per share declined 16% to $0.51. Net income included $67 million in unrealized losses, primarily related to Robinhood Ventures Fund I.
