USD1 Launches Natively on Canton Network

World Liberty Financial has launched its USD1 stablecoin natively on Canton Network, giving institutions a dollar-denominated settlement asset for transactions involving tokenized securities and other real-world assets.

USD1 is issued by BitGo Bank & Trust, National Association. The August 25 launch moves an integration first announced in December 2025 into live network availability.

USD1 Can Settle Atomically Alongside Tokenized Assets On Canton

Institutions can configure USD1 as the cash leg of transactions involving tokenized assets. Canton says its infrastructure can synchronize the stablecoin payment and asset transfer, allowing both legs to settle atomically under the network’s privacy and compliance controls.

World Liberty Financial listed derivatives collateral, institutional lending, cross-border payments, asset issuance, funding and redemptions, and institutional financing as potential uses. The announcement does not identify institutions already using native USD1 for those transactions or disclose settlement volumes from the launch.

Canton Processes More Than $9T in Tokenized Assets Monthly

Canton is designed for institutional financial markets and allows individual applications to set their own privacy, permissioning and governance rules while remaining interoperable across the network.

World Liberty Financial said more than $9 trillion in tokenized assets are issued or processed on Canton every month, while more than $350 billion in onchain U.S. Treasurys moves across the network daily.

USD1 is not Canton’s first dollar-denominated settlement option. USDCx has been live on the network since December 2025 through Circle xReserve. Circle describes USDCx as a USDC-backed stablecoin created by a decentralized protocol on Canton.

BitGo Continues to Issue and Back USD1

BitGo Bank & Trust remains the issuer of USD1 and manages the reserve assets backing the stablecoin. It also processes USD1 minting and redemptions across the networks where the token is available, now including Canton.

The stablecoin is backed by short-term U.S. Treasurys, U.S. government money market funds, U.S. dollar deposits and other cash equivalents. BitGo publishes monthly reserve attestations. Native issuance means USD1 is issued directly on Canton rather than represented through a bridged version from another blockchain.

World Liberty Financial has not disclosed the first institutions using native USD1, the settlement volumes generated since launch or which tokenized assets will first settle against it.
