Trump Media’s Bitcoin Holdings Shrink as Crypto Losses Reach $360.6 Million
Key Takeaways
- Trump Media held 9,477.16 Bitcoin worth $557.1 million as of June 30, down from $836 million at the end of 2025, mostly due to falling prices.
- Nearly two-thirds of the company’s Bitcoin is pledged as collateral against convertible notes and its options strategy.
- Trump Media, Crypto.com, and Yorkville Acquisition mutually terminated a planned Cronos treasury company days before the results were disclosed.
Trump Media and Technology Group’s Bitcoin position shrank during the second quarter as falling crypto prices left the Truth Social parent with $360.6 million in losses during the first half of 2026. The company disclosed the figures in a quarterly filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday.
Bitcoin Position Declines as Prices Fall
Trump Media held 9,477.16 Bitcoin with a fair value of $557.1 million as of June 30, according to the filing. That is down from 9,542.16 Bitcoin held at the end of the first quarter, a decline of 65 coins during the second quarter.
The company reported holding the same 9,542.16 Bitcoin at the end of 2025, meaning the entire quarterly decline occurred between April and June.
The fair value drop was steeper than the change in coin count alone would suggest. The position was worth $836 million at the end of 2025, meaning falling Bitcoin prices, not just the reduction in coins held, accounted for most of the decline in value.
Most of the $360.6 million in first-half losses on digital assets and pledged digital assets was unrealized, according to the filing.
Cronos Holdings Lose More Than 40% of Their Value
Trump Media’s holdings of Cronos, the token tied to its partnership with Crypto.com, remained unchanged at roughly 756.1 million tokens through the first half of the year. The fair value of that position fell to $40.6 million as of June 30 from $68 million at the end of 2025, a decline of more than 40% even without any change in the number of tokens held.
The decline coincides with a broader pullback in token prices across the market during the period, compounding the losses in Trump Media’s Bitcoin position.
Nearly Two-Thirds of Bitcoin Holdings Pledged as Collateral
A significant share of Trump Media’s Bitcoin was tied up as collateral rather than held freely as of June 30. The filing shows 4,260.73 Bitcoin pledged against convertible notes and another 2,077.34 Bitcoin pledged in connection with the company’s Bitcoin options strategy, together representing roughly two-thirds of its total holdings.
Trump Media is majority owned by the Donald J. Trump Revocable Trust. President Donald Trump holds a significant stake in the trust. The trust is controlled by Donald Trump Jr., one of the president’s children.
Filing Follows Scrapped Crypto.com Treasury Deal
The quarterly results landed days after Trump Media pulled back from a separate crypto initiative. On Friday, Trump Media, Crypto.com and Yorkville Acquisition said they had mutually terminated their proposed business combination to form Trump Media Group CRO Strategy, a publicly traded company that would have built a large treasury of Cronos tokens.
The companies cited prevailing market conditions and shifting business and stakeholder priorities in scrapping the deal.
They also abandoned a related arrangement under which Crypto.com would have provided services for planned Yorkville America exchange-traded funds, though Yorkville America said its other existing and planned ETF products remain unaffected by the change.
Bitcoin traded at $64,069.32 as of Monday, up 1.65% on the day. Cronos traded at $0.047, up 1.96%.
