Binance to Rename Funding Account in January 2027

Binance will rename its Funding Account as the Stocks Account in January 2027 and move most crypto balances into users’ Spot Accounts, separating stock settlement from the exchange’s other crypto activity.

The migration begins Sept. 29 and will continue through January, with exact batch dates to be announced later. Binance said the renamed account will be used only for stock and stock-options trading settlement.

On-Chain Deposits to Funding Accounts Stop September 29

From Sept. 29, Funding Accounts will stop accepting on-chain deposits. Deposits and withdrawals for other crypto assets will instead be handled through Spot Accounts.

The future Stocks Account will support six settlement assets: USD, USDC, USDT, USD1, U and BNB. Those assets can continue to be used for stock and stock-options activity after the account is renamed.

Binance will add a One-Click Migration feature allowing users to move crypto assets into their Spot Accounts before the automatic process begins.

Any eligible assets left behind will be migrated automatically in batches from January 2027. Binance said users’ aggregate asset balances will not be affected.

Pay, Card, and Convert Activity Shifts to Spot Accounts

Several services currently connected to Funding Accounts will also change their settlement destination from Sept. 29.

Assets received through Binance Pay, Binance Card and Gift Card will be credited to Spot Accounts. Funding balances can still be used temporarily for Pay transactions, but Binance will remove Funding as a payment source before the account becomes the Stocks Account.

For Binance Convert, existing unfilled limit orders using Funding balances can remain open, but completed or expired orders will settle into Spot Accounts after Sept. 29. New limit orders will freeze and settle assets through Spot Accounts.

Binance also recommends that API users update Funding Account references to Spot where applicable.

P2P Advertisers Move to Separate Account in December

Regular P2P users without advertising history or merchant status will begin using Spot Accounts as the default source for buy and sell orders from Sept. 29 after updating the Binance app.

Advertisers will continue using Funding Accounts temporarily. Binance plans to introduce a dedicated P2P Account in December and migrate advertising-related balances there. Ads that remain tied to the old Funding structure after January 2027 will be closed automatically.

The rename does not introduce a new stock product. Binance already offers stock trading and launched options on U.S.-listed stocks and ETFs on Sept. 1. The migration instead separates those products into a dedicated Stocks Account while most other crypto activity moves to Spot.
