Ripple Adds AI Agents to Treasury Platform After $1B GTreasury Deal
Ripple has expanded the AI capabilities inside Ripple Treasury, the corporate treasury platform built from its $1 billion acquisition of GTreasury. The Sept. 10 update expands policy-governed AI capabilities across treasury functions including forecasting, liquidity, risk, reconciliation and reporting, while keeping human approval over financial actions.
GSmart Agents Can Propose Treasury Actions
Ripple said its expanded GSmart platform uses specialized agents to monitor treasury processes and propose actions. Each agent can cite the internal policy behind its recommendation, but a person must approve the action before execution.
The system separates financial calculations from AI interpretation. Ripple said deterministic engines perform the underlying calculations, while AI is used to interpret policies, detect patterns and explain recommendations. Renaat Ver Eecke, senior vice president of Ripple Treasury, said:
“Rather than asking customers to blindly trust an AI system, GSmart works within each organization’s own treasury policies to surface recommendations transparently, while ensuring humans remain in control of every decision.”
Policy Layer Governs What Agents Can Recommend
The expansion includes Knowledge Studio, which lets companies define policies and controls governing how the agents operate. Proposed actions are checked against those rules before being presented to treasury staff.
Ripple also introduced Analytics Studio with Ask GSmart, a conversational tool designed to retrieve information and generate insights from corporate treasury data.
The company said GSmart is already in production. Among eligible customers, 60% have enabled Risk Insights and 44% use Forecast Insights, according to Ripple. Those are company-reported adoption figures rather than independently verified market data.
AI Expansion Builds on $1 Billion GTreasury Purchase
Ripple announced its acquisition of GTreasury for $1 billion in October 2025, giving the crypto infrastructure company an established corporate treasury management business with more than 1,000 customers across 160 countries at the time of the deal.
GSmart itself predates the acquisition. GTreasury originally launched the AI platform in June 2025, before Ripple bought the company. The Sept. 10 announcement therefore represents an expansion of an existing product rather than Ripple introducing treasury AI from scratch.
Ripple Treasury Also Supports Digital Assets
Ripple has also been adding digital-asset functionality to the treasury platform. In April, it launched tools allowing corporate finance teams to view fiat and digital-asset positions within the same system.
Those capabilities include visibility into XRP and RLUSD balances alongside assets held through connected banks and custody providers. The new GSmart expansion adds AI-driven analysis and recommendations within Ripple Treasury, while the platform separately supports both fiat and digital-asset positions. Ripple says financial actions proposed by the AI remain subject to human approval.
