Coinbase and Webull Expand Crypto Partnership Into Canada
Coinbase and Webull have expanded their crypto partnership into Canada, with Coinbase providing the trading and custody infrastructure behind Webull Canada’s digital-asset offering. The service is built on Coinbase’s Crypto-as-a-Service platform and follows similar integrations between the companies in the United States, Brazil and Australia.
Webull Canada received approval from the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization in June to offer crypto trading through Webull Canada Crypto Limited. The expansion allows eligible Canadian customers to access supported digital assets through the same Webull platform used for other investment products.
Coinbase Provides Trading and Custody Infrastructure
Under the partnership, Coinbase provides the underlying crypto trading and custody infrastructure, while Webull maintains the customer-facing platform. Coinbase said the arrangement gives Webull access to its crypto infrastructure and liquidity without requiring customers to leave the Webull environment to trade supported assets.
Webull Canada CEO Michael Constantino said that the crypto has become an increasingly important part of that mix as Canadian investors look for access to additional asset classes. He said the Coinbase partnership provides the infrastructure needed to support Webull’s Canadian crypto offering.
Webull Adds Major Crypto Assets in Canada
Webull previously said its Canadian crypto service would support 24/7 trading in assets including Bitcoin, Ether, Solana, XRP, Cardano and Litecoin. The company began preparing the rollout after receiving CIRO approval, with selected users initially expected to receive beta access before broader availability.
Webull Canada Crypto Limited is regulated by CIRO and provides order-execution-only crypto trading. Coinbase Canada is separately registered as a restricted dealer across Canadian provinces and territories.
Crypto assets held through the service are not covered by the Canadian Investor Protection Fund. Users therefore receive different protections from those associated with securities held through a conventional investment account.
Partnership Extends Coinbase’s Infrastructure Business
The Canadian rollout expands an existing relationship in which Coinbase supplies crypto infrastructure to Webull across several markets. For Webull, the arrangement adds digital assets alongside its existing Canadian offering of stocks, ETFs, and options.
For Coinbase, the agreement extends its role as an infrastructure provider to third-party financial platforms. The partnership allows Webull to offer crypto trading through its own interface while relying on Coinbase for the underlying trading and custody functions.
