U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded $1.92 billion in net inflows during the five trading days ended August 21, their strongest week since October 2025. The inflows coincided with Bitcoin rising from around $63,000 at the start of the period to briefly above $79,000 on August 21.

The funds recorded positive flows in every session from August 17 through August 21. The weekly total was the largest since the week ended October 10, 2025, when Bitcoin ETFs attracted about $2.7 billion.

Bitcoin ETFs Record Five Straight Inflow Days

The week began with $297.6 million of net inflows on Monday, followed by $189.3 million on Tuesday. Inflows increased to $517.2 million on Wednesday and peaked at $606.3 million on Thursday before another $307.5 million entered the funds on Friday.

BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust, or IBIT, accounted for much of the activity. The fund attracted about $503 million on Thursday alone and another $239 million on Friday, when it represented nearly 78% of the day’s total Bitcoin ETF inflows.

Weekly trading volume across U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs also increased to about $22.1 billion from $6.9 billion the previous week. Combined net assets reached approximately $96.1 billion, reflecting both new fund inflows and Bitcoin’s price gains.

Bitcoin Rally Coincides With Renewed ETF Demand

Bitcoin’s rally accelerated during the middle of the week as ETF inflows increased alongside broader gains across crypto markets. The cryptocurrency moved from around $63,000 at the start of the period to briefly above $79,000 on August 21.

Bernstein analysts linked the wider rebound partly to improving liquidity conditions and renewed ETF demand. They wrote:

“We are not macro experts, but we do know bitcoin historically has had a positive reaction to liquidity expansion.”

2026 Bitcoin ETF Flows Remain Negative

The strong week offset part of the net outflows accumulated earlier in 2026. Despite the $1.92 billion inflow, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs remained about $2.9 billion negative on a year-to-date basis as of August 21.

Cumulative net inflows since the U.S. funds began trading reached roughly $53.7 billion. The latest five-day run marks a sharp change from earlier periods of redemptions, but future flows will determine whether the rebound extends beyond one week.
